The Class of ,69, having survived four years of high school, takes with it many fond memories of old Uncle Awaltf, VVho can forget our fantastic Freshman float teven if it did collapse before making it through the gatel? Or our amazingly original variety show The Oscar Awardsu? CWell, we were only Freshmenll Then came Sophomore year with a flood of new drivers, a flood of new talent, and well. , .just a flood Cone of the rainiest years at Awalt, and still no gutters'?D Our talent shone through with our compact little float which rivaled the bigger junior float for the trophy, but lost. Our biggest achievement was our variety show Vive La Vaudevillef' perhaps the best show produced at Awalt tand no dirty jokesll Spring finally brought the sun and the boys were allowed to wear shorts. On Olympic Day we had our first rock-concert with the Grateful Deadf, The arrival of junior year saw our boys hitting the big time on Varsity teams. However we died at losing the float trophy again to the Class of '68. With revenge in their hearts, our girls attacked the Senior girls in Awaltis first Powderpuff Football game, but only managed a 6-6 tie teven after making the extra point three timeslj We finally proved ourselves by being the first class to win the Spirit Trophy. 1968 being an election year, we injected our own political opinions in The 69th Ballot,', our variety show. Spring traditionally brings sunshine and flowers but a few extras appeared at Awalt as a small group of students held a Flower Power Rallyu. A bit of scandal hit the newspapers, but we knew better. Our junior Prom, Sayonara', was a great success teven if the bids were misspelledll But junior year went quickly and we had but one more year ahead of ns. With the cry of Remember last year! on our lips we labored furiously on our Senior float and at last tasted victory. Our football team continued its win- ning ways by beating Lynbrook and at half-time we saw sparkling Ann Tietjen crowned Homecoming Queen. This was a year of dramatic productions as seniors participated in both i'Cheaper By the Dozen and 'iKiss Me Kate. We managed to starve off 'Asenior slumpi' long enough to win in spirit week again. A revolutionary move this year was the wearing of pants by girls, much to the boys, chagrin. Much fuzziness also appeared on campus in the form of moustaches on both students and teachers. College preparations and anxieties finally come to an end with graduation and Grad Nite in Disneyland. We may leave Awalt with mixed emotions, but we can never forget the part of our lives spent there.
