Later the surround- , ing country was used for cattle raising and growing hay. . The , prairie south of here offered ideal conditions for grazing in is spring and summer. A , . , Avondale was so named in 1895 when the' post :office was moved from the Wallace Greene place about a mile east of here then known as Concord, to the present sight of the Taylor Mercantile Company's store.
