The Day I ' ll Never Forget I had a day when everything seemed to be fine I rose that morning, sunshine filled my mind i drove to a place where the land met the sea Saw an old friend who called out to me We sat and talked of things gone past Something troubled him, he told me at last He described his new life suspended in air . . Spoke of a dependence on a white crystalline powder without a care I suggested ways of help and offered him a place to stay But he said, “I can ' t involve you,” turned, and walked away The day had ended and was not fine I returned home, a thunderstorm filled my mind. Linda McCallum
