WARDENS LUCIUS JAMES KELLAM MARTIN FULLER MITCHELL OURSTUDENTCOVERNMENT The Student Government here at Avon resembles that of the Unrted States rn that rt consrsts of three branches Executrve Legrslatrve and udrcral The Executrve Branch IS headed by the Warden of the Student Councrl The Wardens chref assxstant rn helprng carry out the laws of the school rs the V1ce Warden All of the dorm momtors who are appornted by the Student Councrl are responslble to the Warden and hence form part of the workrng personnel of the Executtve Branch It rs the duty of these ofhcers of the Vrllage to make sure that none of the ordmances of the school are vrolated Avon rs very proud that rt rs one of the few prep schools rn thrs country which has elrmtnated faculty supervlslon of the dormrtorres Our dorm monrtors have relieved the faculty of th1s onerous responslbrlrty wrth remarkable success The dorm monrtors are usually boys of the Frfth and Srxth Forms who have shown capacrty for leadershrp among therr peers These boys must command both the admlratron and respect of their fellows Whenever a member of the Vrllage breaks one of the orclrnances the offense IS referred for settlement to the Judtcral Branch of the Vrllage Government the Court System This branch consrsts of seven ofhcers the Vrllage Attorney the Vxllage Clerk the Presrdent Justrce two Assocrate Judges one Temporary judge and the Baxltff The Court System rs clrvrded mto two courts the Polrce Court and the Summary Court the former IS for mmor and the latter for major or repeated offenses It rs the duty of the Vrllage Attorney to prepare cases for the Vrllage and to prosecute the defendants rn Summary Court The Vrllage Clerks dutres are very detarled and strenuous He must keep the records of all the dectsrons handed down rn the courts of the Vrllage as well as all of the court hours awarded as punishment by the court And where are all these laws that must be so strrct ly upheld made?
