John Palmer, Pi-esident As the Freshmen First Look to the Horizon Mr. Bedford, Advisor Mr. Monohon, Advisor The first space satelite opened a new world of exploration, learning, and discovery for the United States. On a smaller scale the incoming freshmen found a new world of knowledge and activities in Avenal High School. When they sponsored the Valentine Dance, the class of 1967 realized that co-operation, responsibility, and teamwork are of the essence if a successful project is to be completed. We hope that the freshman class has enjoyed and profited by its first year in high school, for it is, indeed, a new phase of adjustment that is a building block upon which the other experiences of their lives will rest.
