Divid Morris James Lawson Sharon Ihnen President Viceepresident Secretary ST DE T EUUNEIL The Student Council has a very vital func- tion in the school. It is concerned with the problems and welfare of the student body and the community. One of the most important accomplish- ments of the council this year has been the completion of a revision of the constitution. Other events sponsored by the Student Council which were heartily received by the student body were the annual Freshman Reception and the Christmas Dance. The Exchange Assembly, also under the direction of the council, was immensely enjoyed by the Coalinga students. Due to an unusual football schedule the financial status of the student body was exceptionally low. The members of the Student Council receive numerous benefits from their experi- ence on the council, among them being the art of student government. -J- .X . .J Allene Bryant Mr. Halley Miss Gilbert Mr. Grant Letty Wilen Treasurer Advisor Advisor Advisor Manager of Girls Activities W- E., 5 ' A 5 i i, oi Leroy Odale Val Whitford Eddie Nabors Doris Langford Rudy Chavarra Sergeant-at-Arms Junior Class Head Cheer Leader CSF Representative Manager of Representative Boys' Activities 3 i Jack: Frank John Bellamy Barbara Woods Doug Preston Rosiland Northey Annual Editor Freshman Class Business Manager Senior Class Freshman Class Representative of Annual Representative Representative

N 4 -fz if-nf 559 At the beginning of the first sem- ester our CSF was small in number. The group justified their number by being host and hostess to the District Fall CSF Conference. This was the first Conference held on our campus and the first CSF Conference of this district to be held on a school day. We were proud of our whole school and it was fun showing our plant to our visitors. II: was suggested that some of us were getting training for future vocations-Chamber of Com- mercel. Nevertheless, the weather was beau- tiful and the school glowed in antici- pation of visitors. Our speakers, Mr. Reilly, Dist. Supt., Mr. Silva, Prin., and Dave Morris, Student Body Presi- dent, set the pace for a worthwhile meeting. Reverend Roland Meredith, guest speaker, gave an inspiring talk on What Are You Worth? Business, discussion groups, lunch- eon, and entertainment followed. Indeed the Avenal CSF can be proud of their first conference, The freshmen were eligible for membership the second semester, so our numbers were greatly increased. We attended the spring conference at Madera.
