Each day I became more and more enthusiastic I was startled to ftnd Mickey Moore was acting as Secretary of State and Bascom Scott and Vernte Haley were running 8g3II1SI each other for President of the Untted States After so much excitement I roamed out tn the country to ftnd John Allen Ratltff Wtllts Curbow and Jimmy Garner successful farmers Jack Corum was running the Corner Grocery Store there and brother! Did I hear the gossip there Bobby Brown was working for M G M Now don t get excited and let me tell you He ts Interior Decorator for the stage Mary Bracken has put Louella Parsons out of business she s tops on reporting the latest around Hollywood I was sttll shooting the breeze with Jack when Helen Murphy dropped tn She was on her way home from the University of Alabama with her degree tn Home Economics Well I had better be getting back to town and how else dtd I go but on a bale of hay pulled by two mules' I wouldn t have ridden that with just anyone but I D Bullard knows how to drive horses so I con sidered htm a safe drtver anyway I got back to town tn one piece As tired as I was I ftgttred I couldn t me by manager Btlly Osborne I was glad to meet up with Bobby Jett I knew he d strike up a conversa IIOII and sure enough the first thing he shot off with was the latest about Helen June Ryan pouring water on htm every morning to awaken htm whtle he was tn the hospttal with a broken leg but other than that he says she s a ftne nurse Loyd Russell had been his famtly doctor for years and Bobby says the doctor actually wouldn t credtt htm for more than just eight years Well now hadn t Ialways wanted to vtstt a Lonely Heart s Club So the pleasure was all mine the very next day Melvtn Tucker had that thing rolling like mad It had made millions happy Who knows I mtght get interested After all I d always trusted Melvtn he wouldn t tell a soul My last day there was Sunday so I went to Church Sonny Rivers was the new pastor and Bettie Jo Murphy directed the chotr beauttfully Whtle Patsy Mttchell rendered the organ music As much as I enjoyed my vtstt I satd good by and drtfted back to earth to take up where I left off as beauty operator with my asststant Doris French at the Ace Beauty Shop Drop by tn your rocket shtp some warm June evening and we ll go whirling into outer space again' Melba Standrtdge V ' - I Y .
