BUCHANAN AIR., U.S. NAVY Captain Buchanan is a native of Bradbury Heights, Maryland and a graduate of the U.S. Navy Academy. Following a tour in USS RADFORD QDD 4461 as Asst. Navi- gator and Asst. ASW Officer, he attended Naval Flight Officer Training, earning his Radar intercept Officer wings on 4 April l969. A . Captain Buchanan has amassed over 4,000 hours of flight time, 320 combat mis- sions, and l,l36 carrier arrested landings in VF 213, VF l2l, VF 2ll and as Com- manding Officer PVFl5l. Other assignments include the Naval War College, three tours in OP-05, and CDC! Operations Officer in USS CORAL SEA QCV 435. Captain Buchanan's awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service MedalC4J, Air Medal Q2 Individual and 20 StrikefFlightj, Navy Commendation MedalC2J, and Air Force Commendation Medal as well as various unit, theatre, and foreign. Captain Buchanan is married to the former Christine Schwartz of Fairfax, Vir- ginia. They have three daughters: Tanya, Meredith, and Courtenay and one son, Ryan.

Mazich, USNR, is a native of Danville, Pennsylvania and a 1977 graduate of the U.S. Naval Acade- my. He has served ashore at Surface Warfare Officer Schools Command, Newport, R.I. and as Commanding Officer, Naval Reserve Center, St. Petersburg, Florida, Sea duty assignments include tours in USS MCCANDLESSQFF 1084? HS First Lieutenant and later Main Propulsion Assistant, in USS AINSWORTH CFF 10901 as Engineer Officer and in U55 EDSON QDD 9461 as Engineer Officer. V Commander Mazich is married to the former Amy Louise Albanese of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. They have a daugh- ter, Emily Victoria and a son, Thomas Francis. A Commander Mazich is authorized to wear the Navy Commendation Medal with two Gold Stars. 6
