I Ships Serviceman Mess Management Specialist Storekeeper Disbursing Clerk 0 The goal of the Supply Department is to stay one step ahead of the demand departmentg i.e., the rest of the ship. Though the demands of AUSTlN'S crew range from engineering machinery costing hundreds of thousands of dollars down to a tooth brush or a pack of cigarettes, the Supply Department somehow manages to keep us cleanly dressed, fed, paid, and fulfilling our mission. Supply is made up of four divisions: S-1 through S-4,-and each provides a distinct essential service to meet the needs of the crew. S-1 Division is primarily responsible for the requisitioning, stowage, and issuance of repair parts and consumable materials. As a part of that task, the storekeeper's responsibilities include the allocation of and accounting for ship's funds as well as the proper documentation of all expenditures. S-2's mission is to provide the crew of AUSTIN with wholesome, well balanced meals prepaired under the most sanitary conditions possible and served in an atmosphere which is conducive to good dining. The Mess Specialists of S-2 Division are responsible for the ordering, receipt, storage, issuance, and preparation of all food stores and the operation of all the various shops that make up the Enlisted Dining Facility. I 2 .- or AUSTIN S men. ln addition ,toithe Enlisted Dining Facilities, S-2 Division is responsible for the upkeep of the Bake Shop, the cleaniness of all refrigeration and food-storage areas and the manning and proper transfer of supplies to both the Chiefs and the Officers Mess. V ' :.. S-3 Division is manned by the men of the Ships Serviceman's Rate. It is responsible fo personal services activities. Retail sales includes the ship's store, the vending arcade games onboard. The ship's laundry facilities along with the officers and the areas of personal services of S-3'Division. The men of,S-3 Division help, squared-away gator-sailor should.
