HALL The Command Master Chief and the Sergeant Major play several vital roles within their respective Chains of Command. In their Statesmans roles, they advise the Commanding Officers on matters concerning the health and welfare of the sailors or troops, decisions affecting morale and job satisfaction, and the most judicious utilization and training requirements of their respective command enlisted personnel. ln their administrative roles, they function as special assistants to the Executive Officers in areas such as retention, discipline, and the maximization of the human resource potential available within their commands. As the Senior Enlisted Personnel within their commands, it is their responsibil- ity to disseminate and promote command policies, to act. as a sounding board between the Commanding Officers and enlisted personnel, and to ensure that policy combined with proficiency assure overall readiness for the accomplishment of their commands mission.
