oreword ADVENTURE, the keynote of the world's history, the basis of all prog- ress and invention, the very essence of courage and strength, and the color and glamour of all romance. YOU TH , the symbol of all that is beautiful, upright and true, with hopes and golden ideals that rise dauntless and unafraid. We have tried to weave these two great Passwords of Life into your Annual, and thus give you both,a memory book of school Adventures and an inspira- tion to carry on courageously in the years to come. And now as Sign my Annual rings through Austin's halls, we wish to express our appreciation to the many who have helped make this Annual what it is, to the teachers and student body, who have made us feel all along that they were supporting the project, and to the personnel of the-Severinghaus Printing Company, the Russell Photographic Studio and the Osgood Engrav- ing Company who have given us invaluable service and good advice. A special thanks is due Miss Pellens and Mr. Berens who have as advisers and friends, added so much joy to this Adventure, that attempts are futile to express what is in our hearts. Grateful record is also made of the help of Frances Gordon and Ethel Doolittle, who tho not members of the staff, at times made themselves in- valuable members of the crew. , Appreciations would be incomplete unless the Editor made special men- tion of her colleagues of Art, Editorial and Business Staffs. It is perhaps not generally known that, whereas in most high school annuals, the bulk of the art work is that of professional artists 5 here at Austin every item of art and adornment in the Maroon and White is the work of the student art staff who from the moment they jreceivedthe motif, have worked untiringly to fill this book with beauty and color. And so as turning these pages, you find all those many things that have places in your heart and have made your trip through Austin one joyous Ad- venture, may the years to come bring the realization of an even fuller and more joyous Adventure through Life. The book is yours, and its contents, we hope, a happy trip through Austin Land. Your passage is booked on the Spirit of Youth. All Aboard-ever to Adventure new.
