Foreword Come folks, come one come all, the most stupendous, rollicking, extree-ordinary performance ever staged under one big top. Step inside and see the greatest, most magnificent display of ferocious animals, clowns in their full bright colors, daring aerial artists, brave, courageous trainers facing the dangers of the arena, and an extra special side show with ghe most astounding collection of the world's wonders and reaks. Before the show starts we wish to express our most sincere appreciation to Miss Pellens, art adviser, and Mr. Berens, general adviser, for their able assistance in raising the canvas and getting the show under way. To Severinghaus Printing Co., Osgood Engraving Co,, and Russell Photography Studio, who have helped to an- nounce our arrival and let the general public know what we look like, we also extend our thanks. The editor solicits a general hand-clapping for her staff mates and other helpers too numerous to mention, but espe- cially to Hugh Ray and jerry Cloud, who unasked came to our aid with the cry, On With the Show. It is a joyous crew that has shared in recent perform- ances in the old top, the tower-crowned old Austin high. From the chief trainer, Mr. Wright, and the ringmasters, the teachers, down through the ranks of all the miscellany of performers and the monkeys in the menagerie, if any, we believe the spirit of Austin nowadays is really the spirit of joyous performance, and so to it we have dedictated this book. The parade is passing, the tent is opened, and the admis- sion is paid, for which you may come again and again back to your circus school days. Step right up folks, the performance is about to start.
