As the long-awaited circus arrives amid
the fanfare of trumpets, presents a spec-
tacular show in an atmosphere of glamour
and pageantry, then travels on, leaving
behind it vivid mernoriesy so does the
Comet make its annual appearance, pre-
senting in gala panorama the activities
and personalities of the school year. lt is
in the Comet that We, the students of
Austin High School, have the opportunity
of seeing ourselves and our associates as
the performers in the circus of school life.
The editors and staff hope that this book
will afford much pleasure and in the
future will recall as many pleasant memo-
ries as "the greatest show on earth,"
which it has been our aim to portray in
this, the Comet of 1940.
