However most people choose to experience things for themselves and discover what works best for them. The years that you will spend at this school are but few, but the knowledge that you gain here will have a lasting effect on the rest of your life. If you take advantage of every educational opportunity and involve yourselves in the many worthwhile activities going on around this school and community, then your experience here will take on a new meaning for you. More importantly, these worthwhile experiences will prepare you to take your place in America as a contributing citizen. To those of you who have found the value of an education, I wish you the greatest opportunities in your pursuit of knowledge and the best of times in finding out what works for you. The PTA Halloween Carnival was a roaring success. Each class participated in some way. The 7th grade had the jail, the 8th grade sold chorizo’s. The Freshmen had a food booth. The Sophomores had the haunted house, the Juniors had the cake walk and the Seniors had a pie eating contest. Each elementary room set up games. It seemed like most of Austin turned out to enjoy the festivities of the evening. The fun ended with the pie eating contest, won by Bobby Helming. Above: The pie eating contest.
