This picture was taken in front of a mobile home, where we had just received an ad. Yearbook Staff Over the last year there has been a great deal of anticipation about probable changes at Austin Schools. We are now seeing the Inspiration Mine Project begin. How many children will come into our school from this project is still to be seen. There has been a great deal of work and discussion on a bond issue for a new school. On June 10, 1986, we will see what the voters say. When you read this these questions will be answered and we will be dealing with the results of those answers. The 1985-86 school year will have much history when looking back. It may be the end of one of the smallest combined schools in the state and the beginning of a much enlarged school. Hopefully, we will be able to direct this growth in a positive way for the benefit of all. Gary Pierson, Principal The most important years of anyone’s life are the one’s in school: elementary, secondary, and then on to college. The students in Austin have a very distinct advantage of a small school at- mosphere. From kindergarten to senior class, each one has the one on one atten- tion needed to excel. Even though we are the smallest school we have graduated classes to be proud of. I have been watching classes graduate from Austin since 1977. Each class was special and has contributed something im- portant to society. The history of Austin School may change, but we will always be proud of the students who are attending and have at- tended the smallest school in Nevada. You are all very special. Mrs. Lou Ann Dalluge Secretary Librarian 4 Working with the Class of 1986 has been a very rewar- ding experience for me. The class has been a hard working group of young people. The ex- perience has let me grow to love all the students of 1986. I want to wish you all the best of luck on your road to success. The Fillies were 8-13 for the season and made the trip to State Tournament in Carson City. The team was young and inexperienced and short on players. They played most of the season with only 6 players. Tonya and Steph were the nucleus of the team with Tasha in strong support. The rest of the girls had little or no experience, but learned fast and by the end of the season were playing very well. The Fillies were the 4th place team in Division I in the B” League and played and lost to McDerrmitt in the first game of the tournament. The Fillies placed 2 players on the All- Division I team. Tonya Campbell on the first team and Stephanie Campbell on the 2nd team. The team voted on two awards for the season: Most valuable player—Tonya Campbell. Most Improved Player—Sheila Linhart. The Bronco’s went into the State Tourna- ment seated number 1 with a 10-0 win loss record. They took their determination with them but lost a close game (56-57) to McDermitt. Roy Johnson and Johnny Helming plac- ed on the All State Second team. The Bronco’s kept their fans on the edge of their seat during the season. It was a great season enjoyed by everyone. 43 44 Candi Baker Stephanie Campbell Penny Collier Kody Godard Tonya Lewis Tasha Mock Loretta Todd Zoe Willavize Liz Williams Not Pictured: Tonya Campbell Volleyball Team Starting the year with volleyball camp, we carried on the season with the same fun and dedication that was begun there. Our record was 2 and 10, but we were never far out of any game we played.
