The Yearbook Staff of Austin High School proudly presents the CASTILLEJA for 1966 r 0 DEDICATION To an admired and respected friend, teacher and counselor. We dedicate this, our 1966 Castilleja, to Mrs. Margaret Gandolfo. Congratulations to the Casti'lleja editors and staff on the spirit of cooperation and hard work involved in producing: this annual. I especially compliment you on your decision to dedicate the yearbook to Mrs. Gandolfo Margaret Gandolfo is much more than merely an excel- lent teacher. To th° students, she is an adult in whom they can confide, a person whose advice is valued, a true friend. With her fellow teachers, she is unfail- ingly cooperative, friendly, and loyal. To me, she is the one indispensable member of the faculty. I cannot begin to say enough about her and her contributions to the Austin School. Again, my most sincere congratulations. Losing only four of eighteen games, the Broncos’ featured teamwork, hustle, and unselfish play as well as a tremendous de- fense. Time after time, other teams would concentrate their efforts on stopping one or another of the Broncos, only to find someone else providing the scoring punch. Losing only Joe Dory, the top rebounder, and Bob Ramos, top scorer, the Broncos seem sure of a bright future. Led by returning lettermen Wayne Testolin, Darrell Young, Lloyd Jackson, and Bob Ramos, the Broncos seem sure to show well in the Zone meet and thus send several boys to the State meet in Las Vegas. With strength in the dashes lacking, the Broncos will concentrate on the distance and field events. Wayne Testolin, the only returning squad member who made it to State last year, will compete in the pole vault and high jump. Alton Cox and.Darrell Young will work on the Jumps, Joe Dory and Bob Ramos on the shot and discus, while the others, Artie Brigham, Jerry Ostberg, Bill Manley, Lloyd Jackson, and Bill Rarmon will concentrate their efforts on the 440, BBO, and mile. State track meet qualifiers since track reorganization in 1963 have been: 1963 - Stanley Hooper, Milo Reese 1964 - Ted Ramos, Dan Bishop 196$ - Ted Ramos, Gene Testolin, Wayne Testolin Since the Castillejas have not mentioned the above outstand- ing tracksters, we have deemed it fitting to give them their mention here. Special mention is extended Milo Reese, who won the 100, the 220, and took 2nd in the broad jump. He set a record in the 220 which still stands. Back row: Kathy Ramos, Violet Brigham, Linda Fields, Sharon Brandt, Dorothy Young Front row: Fansy Smith, Johanna Smits, Iinda Swafford, Iavella Brigham, Carolyn Strickland Front: Shori Smith-Captain For the second straight year, the Fillies’ volleyball team ran through an undefeated season. In whipping Battle Mountain in two matches and Eureka in four, the girls won twelve games and lost only one. With not a single senior on the team, the future looks just as bright as the present.
