CLASS HISTORY It was a fine autumn morning, that September 3rd, 1952, as 107 of us unsuspecting frosh filed into Room 9. When Mr. Holtzclaw, with the help of Mr. Shelby, quieted us down, we began our indoctrination; thus embarking us on four of the best years of our lives. In the midst of the confusion and upheaval, we elected our class officers. Ron Gabbard was chosen to lead us as President, Patti Page, Vice-President; Janice Downey, Secretary; and Helen Barker, Treasurer. Our freshman class consisted of 48 boys, outnumbered by 59 girls, My, that was a hectic year! Our first year being completed, we came back proud as could be as sophomores Once more we elected officers. This year it was an all boy affair with Pete Horn as President, Tom Scoopmire, Vice-President, Dave Miller, Secretary, and Dale Brady, Treasurer. This year our number had dropped to 98. Having completed the struggle through our second year, we were now juniors. We chose the leaders of our class this year to be: Ruth Ann Kruse, President; Dave Miller, Vice-President; Patti Page, Secretary; and Pete Horn, Treasurer. Our enthusiastic class, consisting of 91 guys and dolls, dug into this year with the excitement of choosing our class rings, and planning our prom which highlighted our activities. When our prom, Moonlight Serenade , went over with a huge success, we ended our year with satisfied minds. With the strain of studies unloaded from our shoulders during the summer, 86 of us marched proudly back for our final year as mighty seniors. To date, our class has diminished to 81, and might be decreased more by the end of the year. The officers elected for this year were: Brenda Fox, President; Lou Rountree, Vice-President; Judy Casey, Secretary; and Jack Stonebraker, Treasurer As we depart, the class of 1956 wishes you all good luck in your endeavors and hope you profit as much from A. H. S. as we did.
