s?0- ai T H E Hello there! Let us introduce ourselves: we are the Annual staff of the Aurora Borealis. We're going to be your faithful companions throughout your journey through the pages of this book. We will share with you your disappointments, your accomplishments, and your laughter of this past school year. This eventful year has been one we shall never forget; but when memories becorine a vague whisper, we shall still turn these pages with a wistful smile and reminisce together. THE ANNUAL STAFF £ DEDICATION A teacher, at the same time one of us, who has taught and helped and encouraged us, and offered us genuine friendship. Her enthusiasm and interest in all school activities and for her profession are an inspiration to us to do better; -her readiness to understand, to sympathize, and to laugh with us has endeared her to all pupils. With the sincere respect, the love, the gratitude that are so rightfully hers, we proudly dedicate the 1950 Aurora Borealis to our teacher and sponsor Miss Gladys Martin MR. M. R. MOORHEAD Superintendent of Aurora Public Schools from September. 1947. through July, 1949. In loving memory of Mr. Myron Ray Moorhead, who always put the welfare of the children in whom he was interested above the thought of self. AURORA BOREALIS STAFF Seated: M. Brewer, Dick Rice, N. Brand, J. Chambers, B. Pederson, B. Hultquist. Standing: S. Lopez, Miss Sundquist, H. Dunn, P. Cross, V. Burnand, Miss Martin. T a,ae To the Students of the Aurora High School As you look in retrospect upon the school year 1949-50, it is my sincere wish that each of you will feel it has been a year filled with accomplishment and happy experiences, a year in which many things have happened to make you realize the worthwhileness of planning and working together with your classmates, your family, and the members of your faculty. I hope you have made many friends, and that you have learned to be a better, truer friend yourself. I hope you have acquired during the year, some of those qualities that have made of you a better sportsman and a more able and more highly respected citizen in your school and your community. It has been a most enjoyable experience for me to have had an opportunity to work with you, and I wish tor all of you, rich, exciting and pleasant experiences in the years that lie ahead. Students of Aurora High School: In the midst of your everyday hurry-scurry you have little opportunity to reflect on or to evaluate the activities of which you have been a part. Your annual makes it possible for you to do just that at your leisure. It records many significant experiences which otherwise would be lost to the past. Your annual will grow through the years as a highly prized possession. It reflects the personality of the school of which you have been a member for the year 1949-1950. Somewhere in this record of the year's activities you will find your contributions to a living, ever-growing organization, memories of which will play a very important, helpful role in your future life. To those of you who will not be in Aurora High School when a new school year rolls around, we offer sincere thanks for your good influence. And you who will again be an integral part of our student body, I urge to keep in mind that you will greatly profit by striving for an even better school than that which now exists.
