A brief 'fuel stop was made at Kaoh- slung on 3 August and at Yokosuka, Japan on 7 August. Fuel stops were also made in Midway Islandsand Pearl Harbor. Three days of liberty followed in San Fran- cisco on 23 August. AULT departed San Francisco on 26 August leaving through the great Golden Gate Bridge enroute to Acapulco, Mexico. Two days of liberty were enjoyed in this popular tourist spot. Departure from Acapulco signaled the beginning of Shellback initiation preparations.
