CLASS In the fall of 1982, twelve new inmates were brought to the Augusta High School Penitentiary on four year terms. Randy Dandy Sewell, Melinda E.T. Stankewich, Christy Bones Pond, Camouflage Jay Neal, and David Hands Lu- ciano were all in for minor offenses. Amy Amos Simkins, Paula Pearl Allen, and Susan Woofer Carter were in for Grand Theft Pudding. Rusty Dusty Fas- bender was in on a charge of car slaughter, and Karlen Dr. K Hitchcock was in for polygamy. Rosscoe P. Broere and Brian Beaker Dunning were in for pos- session of an illegal substance, and Ronnie Tommy Wagner was in for stealing car tires. Rusty was chosen Head Inmate , and was reelected to the position all four years of the inmate's terms. Helping Rusty were: Beaker, Amos, Pearl, and Woofer, and then Pearl again. Collecting bail money were: Rosscoe, Woofer for two years, then Pearl. We chose Woofer and Rosscoe as our Homecoming candidates, and built our Grand Prize float— Cardinals are Cuckoo —that first year. To cap off a perfect Homecoming, Woofer was elected Princess. We were initiated with eggs and molasses, which were washed from our hair by the flush of a toilet. Our jail football team was pretty successful that year, winning the division. In our first year, we lost Camouflage to the Great Falls Penitentiary, and Hands to a penitentiary in New Jersey. As we started the second year of our sentence, we had two new inmates join our cellblock. They were: Rapid Roy Salisbury and Calamity Kris Collins. Homecoming rolled around again and Rusty and Amos were chosen as our candidates. Rusty was elected Prince. The theme we chose that year was Refine the Refiners which took third place. Rapid left our prison block on parole, and Beaker and E.T. escaped together. |The prison football team was not as successful as the year before, but did all right. With only two years left, we began our third year with high hopes. We got one new inmate, Pete The Nose Folmer. Our candidates for the Homecoming party were Pearl and Dandy. Dandy was King and Pearl was Princess. Our float, Wash 'em Up placed second. With the theme, You're My Inspiration , we put on one of the best proms this penitentiary has ever seen that year with a lot of hard work on our parts and our cell guard. Miss Ropp. Woofer and Rusty were elected Prince and Princess. That year Amos, Dandy, and Bones made it over the wall. We started our fourth year unable to believe it was our last. We were joined by a German immigrant, Dunja Harry Debis. Harry stayed with us a short while before leaving for Washington. When Homecoming arrived, we chose Woofer and Rosscoe to be our candidates, winning Prince and Princess. Our float that year, Heads We Win, Tails You Lose , placed third as we spent a little too much time initiating youngsters to Cellblock 89 , and not enough time working on our float. In the spring of our final year. Woofer and Rosscoe were honored King and Queen at the 1986 Junior Prom and Pearl and Dr. K were awarded Prince and Princess. Pearl, Woofer, Rusty, Dr. K, and Rosscoe put forth their acting tal- ents in the play, Lock, Stock, and Lipstick , a comedy. Finally our four year term was up and we were set free from the penitentiary on May 18, 1986. Leading the pack with knowledge was Rusty with Dr. K second in line. We all have some very fond memories and will treasure our time spent in the AHS Penitentiary. 2
