Class History In 1973, the mighty class 1977 slunk wearly through the hallowed halls of AHS. During the first week, we settled to the grind of high school life. Ray Kauffman was elected to head-up our '’fearless group, with Anne Lundberg appointed second in command. Dana Isakson kept track of our suicide notes, and Chad Fenner kept track of our meager earnings. Mr. Carter was there to restore confidence and order in the midst of total terror and chaos. In the beginning, the brave sole to enter our mighty class was Bill Hotchkiss. With the pressure steadily building, a few cracked. Cur deserters were recognized. They were Robert Fishbaugh, Barbara Smith, and Scarlet Rapp. Dana Isakson was chosen as our homecoming candidate, with Kelly Rohlk there to escort her. Our float, entitled Sink 'Em was honored with second place in the historic parade. As our first duration at AHS drew to a close, we knew when we were reentered as newly-promoted sophomores, we would be much wiser to the ways of Augusta High School. At the beginning of our sophomore year, we elected Dana Isakson as leader of the pack. Our second leader was fearless Chad Fenner. Zina Simpson was selected to keep charge of the gold and our second year's accumula- tions of suicide notes. Mr. Carter was still there to keep order, or try, in our unruly bunch. With our class being SO fun-filled, many rushed to join our ranks. The misinformed enlisters were Mike Beauch- man, Denise Burke, Angela Fenner, Gyle Flanagan, Frank LaFromboise, Barbara Johnson, Robert Smith, and Milford Wearley. Mark Kibler couldn't make up his mind, so he joined our ranks twice. Needless to say, we had a few deserters. Those who so unfaithfully left us were Mike Anderson, Rhonda Cornman, Angela Fenner, Gyle Flanagan, Frank LaFromboise, Shelia Olson, Kelly Rohlk, Robert Smith, and Linda Wood. Later on, Linda re- joined us after having a quick run-through of the bigger schools. She found out that her class of Augusta was where she really belonged. Our homecoming candidate was Shelia Olson with Mark Kibler as her escort. Our Junior year, the main event being concessions, prepared us for the dark, cold, world of the restaurant business, the Junior Burger , Sheryl Bossing, manager, leader of our outrageous staff, and Debbie Hammel, assistant man- ager, took over when Sheryl got food poisoning. Keeping track of the orders was trusty Robin Young, while Milford Wearley worked the till. Miss Boley and Mr. Shoemaker made up our senior board of directors. Our waiters and waitresses to abandon the sinking ship were Mike Beauchman, Ray Kauffman, Laurane Goodman, Betty Malatare, Pat Martin, Zina Simpson, Kay Lynn Tjaden, and Barbara Johnson. The only one to swimm back to save the survivors was Betty Malatare. For homecoming, we decided to enter Debbie Hammel, Miss Junior Burger in the Homecoming Queen Contest. She surprised us all by bringing back to the restaurant the title of Princess. ' To end our adventurous year, we put on Laughter in the Rain, our Junior Prom theme. We finally made it to our senior year. SURPRISE! As Wall Street closed down, we decided to go into the publish- ing business. As president of the Senioritis Publications Company for the 1977 business year, we elected Anne Lundberg, with Chad Fenner, who was elected Vice-President, to take over when Anne took her weekly vacations. Debbie Hammel kept our chapters as straight as possible and Milford W earley kept track of our annual dividends. Mr. Easton was there to help us along through our hard times. As editor, we elect Anne Lundberg, and co-editor, Sheryl Bossing. Our Junior representatives included Lyn Mc- Donough and Jeff Kessler. One of the first events to cover was the Senior Christmas Ball, hence, Christmas Tree Hunting. Our brave and adventurous senior girls showed their versatility by riding in the back of a pick-up while Chad Fenner showed his true nature and rode inside the warm, dry, pick-up. Our Christmas Ball was a success with music provided by Cinema. We added two more reporters to our staff. They were Pat Martin and Lane Busch. Later on, Lane Busch left, taking with him the famous Black Blazer . Our homecoming candidate for 1976-77 was Linda Wood with Randy Wilson as her escort. As April rolled around, we attended the Senior Prom entitled Live for Today, with music provided by Relayers. Debbie Hammel and Randy Wilson were crowned King and Queen with Chad Fenner and Robin Young as Prince and Princess. It was a great success. As the year of 1977 closes, we attended our Baccalaureate in Lincoln at the Community Church and our Graduation in Augusta at the High School Gym. 16
