Class History In August of the year 1966 we enter the doors of Augusta High School as twenty scared, painted freshmen. Class officers for our first year in high school were Valerie Krone, president; Kris Henry, vice-president; Cynthia Mihalovich, secretary; and Donna Hammel, treasurer. We chose Mr. Sweeney as our freshmen sponsor. In our freshmen year we gained Ruth Ferguson and Mildred Wickstrom. Miki Holub, our homecoming candidate, was elected homecoming queen. The float we built for the homecoming parade won first place. Cynthia Mihalovich received a heisey award. Denny Dellwo led our class as president during our sophomore year with Scott Cornell, vice-president; Cynthia Mihalovich, secretary; and John Tuomi, treasurer. Miss Ginther was our sponsor. Karen Hindberg Eckerson was our homecoming candidate. We lost Valerie Krone, Miki Holub, Barbara McBride, and Mike Miller during our sophomore year. We gained Bob Anderson and jerry Hancock. John Tuomi received a heisey award. As juniors we were now nearing the big number one position. Our officers for our junior year were Bill Koch, president; Cynthia Mihalovich, vice-president; Kris Henry, secretary; and Gail Flesch, treasurer. Mr. Rohnke was selected as class sponsor. Denny Dellwo was elected junior representative to the annual staff. John Tuomi was selected as Boys' State Delegate and Denny Dellwo was Alternate to Boys' State. Cynthia Mihalovich was selected Girls' State Delegate with Kris Henry as Alternate. Gail Flesch was our homecoming candidate. Bert Doughty and Denny Dellwo received heisey awards. We lost Jerry Hancock, George Camp, and Mike Springer while we gained Gail Flesch. The junior class basketball team took first place honors in the interclass tourna- ment. Our prom theme was Hush and we decorated with shades and tints of yellow. During the latter part of our junior year Denny Dellwo was elected to serve as president of the Student Council. As seniors we experienced many happy moments for probably the final time. We elected Bill Koch, presi- dent; Bert Doughty, vice-president; Cynthia Mihalovich, secretary; and Scott Cornell, treasurer. Mr. Wilson was the senior class sponsor. During our senior year we gained Barb Knight, Pat Tinsley, Ethel Lambkin, Ray Nelson, Bill Komec, Bob Petronek, Vickie Bennett, Jack Kelley, and John Ramstead. We lost Karen Hindberg Eckerson and Warren Mogenson; and during our senior year we lost John Ramstead, Vickie Bennett, Bob Petronek, and Jack Kelley. Barb Knight, our homecoming candidate, was elected homecoming queen. Our senior class play was Tune in on Terror. The class of 1970 again became the winners of the interclass tourna- ment. Baccalaureate was held on May 17 and Graduation was held on May 18. There were 18 in the graduat- ing class and six had been students of the Augusta School System for twelve years. Those seniors who had gone to school at Augusta for twelve years were Scott Cornell, Bert Doughty, Cynthia Mihalovich, Denny Dellwo, Sally Shortridge, and John Tuomi. The senior class of 1970 spent many happy and sad moments in the halls of AHS but probably the happiest time was the evening of May 18 when those one-time scared, painted freshmen turned into the 1970 graduates of Augusta High School. 14
