Class officers for our first year in high school were Valerie Krone, president; Kris Henry, vice-president; Cynthia Mihalovich, secretary; and Donna Hammel, treasurer. We chose Mr. Sweeney as our freshmen sponsor. In our freshmen year we gained Ruth Ferguson and Mildred Wickstrom. Miki Holub, our homecoming candidate, was elected homecoming queen. The float we built for the homecoming parade won first place. Cynthia Mihalovich received a heisey award. Denny Dellwo led our class as president during our sophomore year with Scott Cornell, vice-president; Cynthia Mihalovich, secretary; and John Tuomi, treasurer. Miss Ginther was our sponsor. Karen Hindberg Eckerson was our homecoming candidate. We lost Valerie Krone, Miki Holub, Barbara McBride, and Mike Miller during our sophomore year. We gained Bob Anderson and jerry Hancock. John Tuomi received a heisey award. As juniors we were now nearing the big number one position. Our officers for our junior year were Bill Koch, president; Cynthia Mihalovich, vice-president; Kris Henry, secretary; and Gail Flesch, treasurer. Mr. Rohnke was selected as class sponsor. Denny Dellwo was elected junior representative to the annual staff. John Tuomi was selected as Boys' State Delegate and Denny Dellwo was Alternate to Boys' State. Cynthia Mihalovich was selected Girls' State Delegate with Kris Henry as Alternate. Gail Flesch was our homecoming candidate. Bert Doughty and Denny Dellwo received heisey awards. We lost Jerry Hancock, George Camp, and Mike Springer while we gained Gail Flesch. The junior class basketball team took first place honors in the interclass tourna- ment. Our prom theme was Hush and we decorated with shades and tints of yellow. During the latter part of our junior year Denny Dellwo was elected to serve as president of the Student Council. As seniors we experienced many happy moments for probably the final time. We elected Bill Koch, presi- dent; Bert Doughty, vice-president; Cynthia Mihalovich, secretary; and Scott Cornell, treasurer. Mr. Wilson was the senior class sponsor. During our senior year we gained Barb Knight, Pat Tinsley, Ethel Lambkin, Ray Nelson, Bill Komec, Bob Petronek, Vickie Bennett, Jack Kelley, and John Ramstead. We lost Karen Hindberg Eckerson and Warren Mogenson; and during our senior year we lost John Ramstead, Vickie Bennett, Bob Petronek, and Jack Kelley. Barb Knight, our homecoming candidate, was elected homecoming queen. Our senior class play was Tune in on Terror. The class of 1970 again became the winners of the interclass tourna- ment. Baccalaureate was held on May 17 and Graduation was held on May 18. There were 18 in the graduat- ing class and six had been students of the Augusta School System for twelve years. Those seniors who had gone to school at Augusta for twelve years were Scott Cornell, Bert Doughty, Cynthia Mihalovich, Denny Dellwo, Sally Shortridge, and John Tuomi. The senior class of 1970 spent many happy and sad moments in the halls of AHS but probably the happiest time was the evening of May 18 when those one-time scared, painted freshmen turned into the 1970 graduates of Augusta High School. 14 Being of unsound mind and unsound body, the Class of 70 declares this their last will and testament. Bob Anderson wills his quiet ways to Dave Ripley. Scott Cornell wills his athletic ability to the Geise boys and his lovable nature to Brad McDonough. Denny Dellwo wills his love for the Student Council and the Annual to Tom Balek who deserves it. Bert Doughty cannot will anything because he needs everything he's got. Ruth Ferguson wills her ability to blush to Brad McDonough. Gail Flesch wills her cheerleading ability to Christi Ripley. Bill Goss wills Agnes to anybody who wants her and all his parties to Lois Ferguson. Donna Hammel wills Bert Doughty to Patty Grogan. Kris Henry wills all her Jerrys to anyone stupid enough to take them. Jack Kelley wills his quiet ways to Gene Nelson. Bill Koch wills his firefighting ability to Cliff Wilson and his seat at the Wrangler to Jeff Baker. Bill Kornec doesn't will anything because the annual staff couldn't think of anything. Barb Knight wills her nickname Plunger to Scott Cornell so that he can give it to someone else. Ethel Lambkin wills Butch Gehring to anybody who likes red hair and Mary Lou Perkl to the A. H. S. football team. Cynthia Mihalovich wills her parking place in Swallow Canyon to any girl who wants to pay a fine for OVER-PARKING. Ray Nelson wills his frequent illnesses to Mustache Wilson. Sally wills her high-jumping ability to Becky Mihalovich. Pat Tinsley wills her ability to get along with everyone to Jack Kelley and her glasses to Starlette Morris. John Tuomi wills his soup-bowl haircuts to Fred Bossing and his temper to George Greitl in hopes of getting George Ready for next year's football team. 15 “2001, A School Odessey” Augustans and Lincolnites are doing more than their share in the community on the moon since man first landed on it thirty years ago. On the last trip, it was necessary for Bill Komec, who was the driver of the space ship with its furry steering wheel and suicide knob, to stop in North Dakota so Pat Tinsley could attend church. Raymond Nelson missed the ship's take-off because he was figuring out the mileage to the moon with the assistance of his trig-book. After the ship landed, it took Ethel Lambkin no time at all to determine the night temper- ature of the moon which was 90-20-60. On the moon Bob Anderson and Bill Goss are co-owners of a 25-cent car wash so Bob can give his pickup free washes. Meanwhile, Scott Cornell is a big winner at the Uranius Ardvark Derby winning a lifetime supply of chocolate chip cookies and chocolate milk. Next, we learn that John Tuomi and Denny Dellwo are prize students in the Acme Duck talking school, although Donald Duck has fled the planet. The Moon Daily reports that Ruth Ferguson helped the Jupiter Jets immensely while playing tackle for them in the Galactic Football league. Gail Flesch was also given credit for their success because of her vastly improved cheerleading abilities. Bill Koch is making his living by supplying kegs for high-school parties. Next, we see the two explorers, Sally Shortridge and Barb Knight, exploring the outer galaxies searching for newer and better ditches to drive in with a good supply of moonshine in the back seat. Right behind them, we see Bert Doughty continually getting his truck stuck in craters. Ending the scene, Kristy Henry and Donna Hammel are acting as private secretaries of General Cynthia Mihalovich who is still trying to win the war in Vietnam back on earth. The senior class of 70 would like to show their appreciation for the raunchy job the juniors did on the class prophecy. The class of 70 was forced to make corrections in order to make this prophecy fit to print. 16 Anne Tinsley President Brad McDonough James Weisner Bob Cameroun Glenda Krezelok Vice-President Jackie Hoeffner Vicky M alata re Carol Tronson Nyleen Anderson Secretary Debbie Welch Mary Lou Perky 1 Linda Haugen 18 Barb Martin T reasurer Kent Mosher David Ripley Darwin McKnight Jerry Perkl Bob Hammel Doug Freeman Judy Sparrow Starlette Morris George Grietl Rick Grogan 19 Ross Geise Allan Morris Ron Crees ‘ i ] _ : Jerry Knight President Mark Young Vice-President Eddie Welch Secretary Brent Anderson Rozanne Henry Patty Hindberg Dan Barrett T reasurer Larry Shanahan Debbie Springer Toni Fenner Dennis Anderson 21 Mike Eckerson Lorena Welch Michelle Mosher Wanda Anderson 22 Danny McKnight Leo Fleming President Vice-president Arnold Knight Kathy Mosher Marilyn Haugen S e cretary T reasur er Carol Hammel V Fred Bossing Cindy Shanny Kyle Geise Carol Anderson Lori Henry Charley Malatare Grant Grietl Beth Smith Becky Mills Russel Ait Sandra Swan Chip Crees Cindy Hemmer Mary Tinsley Mary Hemmer Bob Morgan Vicky Wood 26 “A Club - Student Council First row; Mr. Wilson, Bill Koch, Bert Doughty, Mr. Baker; Ron Crees, Dave Ripley, Brad McDonough, Denny Dellwo, Lenny Malatare; Kent Mosher, Scott Cornell, John Tuomi, Mark Young, Jerry Knight.
