CLASS HISTORY In the year 1955 the date of September 6 twelxe freshmen looklng l1ke somethlng from outer space trod 1nto the halls of Augusta I-hgh School The next two days the Sophomores trred exeryth1ng they could to make us m1serable On September 8 we elected class off1cers We chose J1m Geldrlch M1ckey Mamx Ronnle M1lls and Sharon Thomas as our class off1cers Mr Murray was chosen as our sponsor Dur lng the year Ted Lemp mox ed to Hamllton leaxlng ll 1D our class The second year started w1th OLlI'1OS1Dg D1ck Woods and gumng Porter Ray Forney and Glor1a M1ller We had a d1ff1cult Job 1n1t1at1ng the Freshmen because of the s1ze of our class We elected the followlng class offrcers Gary Chamberlaln M1ckey Mann Dorothy Rapley and Myra Swanson We chose Mr A Tuom1 for our sponsor and he has been our sponsor for our remalnmg h1gh school years Durlng the f1rst s1x weeks Glen Arps another member of our class dropped out leaung ll In our Junlor year we started school on the thlrd of September I-Iowex er Porter Ray Forney Mlckey Manlx and Jlm Geldrlch were not w1th us Our class offlcers for that year were Sharon Thomas Gary Chamberla1n Ronnle M1lls and Dorothy Rapley We ordered our class rlngs and they arrn ed before the end of October The prom of 58 'The Emc rald Clty was sponsored by our class Gary Chambcrlaln and Ed Johnson were chosen to attcnd Boys' State and Sharon Thomas was chosen to attend Glrls' State 'We started our Semor year losmv Glor1a M1ller and RJIDINE PaulC1rosf1e1d e elected class off1cers and annual offrcers the flrst week of school We held the annual Chr1stmas Party onthe Sex enteenth of December The Junior Semor play The Nerxous Wreck was held Marco 20 Sneak day was May 4 and the class went to Vlrgmla C1ty and to the Lew1s and Clark Cax erns The last src weeks was a hect1c one wlth the semors not accompllshlng much ln thc llne of school work We held Baccalaureate on May 24 and Crraduatlon on May 26 So ends the h1ph school days for the class of 59 but they w1ll contlnue to make hlstory ln tha futuzc 12 V Y , . . 1 ' 1 1 , .
