CLASS HISTORY On September 3 1953 we, twenty green freshmen entered the doors ofAugusta Hrgh School to further our educatron We must have been qurte a srght dressed ln our m1t1at1on costumes! After the frrst day however, we attrred rn our everyday clothes to settle down to our long assignments and to drslrke our teachers The class offlcers were soon elected They were Susan Schrader President Ramona Brunett Vice Pres ident and John Gerardr Secretary Treasurer Durrng the f1rst semester Bob Pettaplece retrred from hrgh school Nmeteen fresh men rema med at the end of our fust year Mr Wolfe was our class sponsor He helped us plan our partres and other actrvrtres The next year we entered the doors w1th our heads swollen thrnklng ourselves as upperclassmen The frrst few days were devoted to xnttratron The class offrcers for th1s year were Calvln Wearley Presrdent Nancy Bowman, Vrce Presldent and John Vandeberg as Secretary Treasurer Ramona Brunett d1d not retum w1th us but another student, Delores Hensley Jorn ed us wh1ch totaled nmeteen tn our class John Gerardr and Walter Lame Jomed the Navy and Gordon Lerum was Uansferred to Valrer Arthur Lemp Joined us Mr Cornelrus sponsored our class He helped us wrth our mam event wh1ch was a party for the freshmen Our Junior year was much more colorful than our precedrng years The class of frcers were John Vandeberg, Presrdent Flossy Lucero Vrce Presrdent Stuart Kestner Secretary, and Flora Gervais, Treasurer Class rrngs were ordered rn September, and we were sportrng them by Thanksgrvmg Susan Schrader was elected to Girls State and Flora Gervars was alternate Calv1n Wearley and John Vandeberg were delegates to represent Augusta Hrgh School at Boys State Stuart Kestner was alternate for Boys State Our bmg responsrbrlrty this year was the prom The theme was Northern Lrghts and the gymnasrum was decorated a very brrllrant ray of colors rgloos, and srlhouette frgures Mr Hane and Mr Norwood were our sponsors Some Junror members were able to particrpate m the Jumor semor play STOP THE WEDDING The drrector was Mr Rohnke Beryl Hugelen jomed our class but Ralph Morgan left us Only slxteen students re ma med At the begrnnrng of the senror year Beryl Hugelen and Delores Hensley drdn t re turn, but Ramona Brunett and Lois Styren enrolled The number of students in our class remamed to be srxteen Later, Robert Mogensen Jo1ned the Navy Announcements were ordered and class offrcers were elected They were Stuart Kestner Presrdent Calvin Wearley V1ce President, Donald Muir Secretary Sharon Mrller, Treasurer Mr Rohnke and Mrs Jerrel were our sponsors The annual staff was elected October 4 They were John Vandeberg Edrtor Calvin Wearley Assrstant Edltor Susan Schrader, Busrness Manager Stuart Kestner Assrstant Bustness Manager Dale Cunnrff Art Ed1tor Nancy Bowman, Snapshot Edrtor Lors Styren, Treasurer Charon Errckson, Calendar The senror portrarts were taken at School October 9 Everyone was satisf1ed The semor party wh1ch rs the annual Chmstmas Party was held December 18 FINDERS CREEPERS was the Junxor senror play Mrs Jerrel was the drrector Sneak Day was May 10 Thrs rs one day that wrll never be forgotten by the Senrors Everyone surely mxssed us at school Baccalaureate was held May 19 and graduatron was May 22 Ftfteen seniors grad uated the second largest to graduate from Augusta Hrgh School 5 i I - . : .' - : I - - . . , .
