Girls' Sports I Soon after the high school term was opened, our girls began softball practice. V ' As day after day passed by, the team co-operated with the coach and played together, so that they now know the things that some may have for- gotten over the summer months. The new ones are following the same steps as our whole team did last year. Even though we did lose a few Seniors, our Freshmen are replacing their footsteps very well. On Tuesday night, September 18, 1951, the Mar-thasville High School opened their Softball Tournament, consisting of eighteen teams, with double elimination. On Wednesday night, September 19, our girls played Oifallon, and won this game eight to five. After this victory they were scheduled to play Wright City on September 20, and won this game twenty-two to one. After a couple of postponements, on account of rain, Marthasville finished their tournament on October 3. We had to play Wentzville for first place and we came through with a victory to win the FIRST PLACE TROPHY. The final score was eight to two. X On September 27, 28, 29, we held our own annual Softball Tournament, by playing Wright City and won this game by the score of thirteen to zero. After this victory, we played O'fallon on September 29, and lost this game six to four which eliminated us from the tournament. ' On October 2, our girls played Francis Howell, on our own field and lost this game by the score of eight to five. The seasons record for our girls was four wins and two losses. A. H.
