Between football games, you can see him sitting in his cage (The University calls it an aviary). And at football game he sits on his perch spreading his wings or falling tethered to the ground. Where does the cheer War Eagle come from? There are only stories, all unlikely. Some say it came from a found war medallion. Others swear that the 1920 quarterback kept yelling Bald Eagle as a call for a play to hit a player from Georgia. Fans thought he was always saying War Eagle and picked it up as a cheer. We don ' t know where War Eagle came from, at the first But we do know where it comes from now; The heart.
