Hie School of Education prepares young men and women f«»r (Hisitimis as classroom teachers. It offers programs of preparation for overall jmsilions in school systems, such as superintendents, principals, supervisors and curriculum and guidance workers. It also offers programs of study and re-search on the undergraduate level and on tin- graduate level to the doctoral degree. The professional objectives of each student are achieved through S| ecialixed curricula in the various areas of leaching and service and also through a program of individual guidance In the faculty. Services of the School of Education extend into many schools in the Slate, through courses for teachers now (caching. consultative services and research studies. These serv-ices enrich the programs of study for students preparing to teach. The faculty and students are constantly carry ing out research to determine the purposes of education and the characteristic of good education. School of Chemistry w men ia PtruArnt PATRICIA ItOOTII Vitt-Pinidrnt Chemistry leads men into the domain of those latent forces whose power controls the whole material world. Auburn's School of Chemistry offers curricula designed to train the student in the fundamentals of the sciences together with advanced courses in chemistry and physics. The School is made up of the Department of Chemistry. Chemical Knginecring and Laboratory Technology, ami offers four-year curricula leading to degrees of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Chemical Knginecring, The School is housed in the Boss Chemical Laboratory which contains the Krnerson K. Miller Library and fully c |uip|M’d modern lalroratories. The School also has departments located in Wilmore Knginecring Laboratory. A major source of strength in the School of Chemistry rests in tin- fact that the facultx is active both in teaching and in research. It consists of courses of study designed to meet the requirements for engineers competent!} trained to assume responsibilities and leadership in modern industry and engineering organizations. The school offers the Baccalaureate Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering with options in Communications Engineering and Electric Power. Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Textile Engineering, eronautical Administration, industrial Management, and Textile Management. Also, the Department of Textile Engineering has a special curriculum that provides a certificate of proficiency upon completion. The first two years of study in the engineering curriculum is common for all branches of the profession. This affords the student ample time to choose a particular field of advanced studies and specialized work for the last two years. A fifth year of graduate work is offered for the Master’s Degree.
