However, many other products would have little value except through chemistry. Auburnis chemists and chemical engineers are trained to become useful citizens with specialized training for rendering professional service and developing our resources. The chemistry majors are prepared to do laboratory worlc and research in the field of chemistry, while chemical engineers are trained chiefly for process development and production. Laboratory technology gives preparation for technicians for food and nutrition laboratories and prepares one for hospital training leading to a degree in Medical Technology. An active research program is maintained and doing its part in contributing to the fundamental research which is primarily the province of colleges and universities. The School of Chemistry is housed in the Ross Chemical Laboratory and in the Wilmore Engineering Laboratory. The Emerson R.
