James Foy, after serving a year as acting Director of Student Aifairs, was made Director of Student AH:airs in August 1952. These able leaders compose the Administration of Alabama Polytechnic Institute. They are very important cogs in the great Auburn machine, and they perform their respective duties in a very proficient manner. These are the people who are responsible for Auburn's great success as one of the best educational institutions in the South. The Administration works with the 10 schools of the college, with the state and directly with the student body. Theirs are the unheralcled tasks, which so often are never recognized but which are most essential in carrying out the policy of Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Facing a wide variety of problems beginning with a greatly expanded enrollment at the end of Woirld War II and extending through the problems of losses of students due to the Korean conflict, the Auburn administration, in all instances, have continued working to build a greater Auburn. 20

Davis, decisions made by this division are felt by virtually every citizen of Alabama, Research discoveries are distributed to farmers throughout the state by means of the county agent and home demonstration system. Mr. Davis was recently elected President of the Southeastern Resources Development Association and also the Southern Agricultural Workers As- sociation. The members of the administration of Alabama Polytechnic Institute perform un- heralded taslcs that are nevertheless essential to the smooth operation of the institution. Keeping the great mass of records in the registrz-1r's ofiice, sweating with the financial problems of the school, or supervising the maintenance of Auburn's physical plant, are examples of the duties of the administration personnel.
