No one realized This uncerTainTy more Than Dr. Ralph Brown Draughon, Auburn's energeTic presidenT, Faced wiTh The grim consequences oT The Korean War and American RearmamenT, PresidenT Draughon moved sTeadily ahead in all possible phases of his proposed 254,000,000 building program. Dr. Draughon ToughT To beT- Ter The condiTions in each of The insTiTuTion's IO schools. No one branch or school OT The college received more Than iTs share of aTTenTion Trom Auburn's earnesTly devoTed presidenT. Auburn men and women everywhere had reason To be proud oT The honesTy and characTer oT Their president Ralph Draughon conTinued'To supply The sarnersincere, hon- esT and devoTed leadership which had characTerized his Tenure as presidenT. H ' OLYTECHNI GOVERNOR GORDON PERSONS The gubernaTorial inauguraTion oT Gordon Persons on January I2 broughT an Auburn man back home, Tor wiTh The governorship of Alabama wenT The chairmanship oT The Alabama PolyTechnic lnsTiTuTe Board of TrusTees. Gov- ernor Persons' subseguenT appoinTmenT To The Board OT 'l'rusTees of men who realized Auburn's poTenTialiTies, seemed clearly signiTicanT. Governor Persons' inTeresT in Auburn's adminisTraTive aTTairs became Too well known wiThin Two days al7Ter his inauguraTion when The coaching sTaTT came wiThin his Tire.
