His appoin+men+ lasl' Ocfober was a unanimous one by 'rhe Board of Truslees. Dr. Draugh- on's eleciion climaxed a I6 year career wi+h fhe Auburn adminis+ra+ion. The new presiden+ is widely known in soufhern educa- 'rional circles, having served wi+h disfincfion on +he Ex- ecu+ive Council of ihe Soulhern Associalion of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Largely 'rhrough his efforis, Auburn was accep+ed for 'lhe accrediled school group, 'rhe American Associalion of Universilies. Sfudenis feel a closeness fo Dr. Draughon because of his longslanding associafion wi+h Auburn. He displayed leadership as a s+u-den+ here before beginning his career as an educafor.
