GOVERNOR CHAUNCEY SPARKS Adequately prepared by reason of ability and experience for the job which lies ahead of him. the Honorable Chaunccy Sparks is ready to guide the destinies of our state for the next four years. Governor Sparks enters office this year with a sound statement of policy already outlined for solving the problem, both domestic anti foreign, which face us now. In such troubled times as these we are doubly in need of a courageous and determined chief executive—one who will see the needs of the State and satisfy them. In Chauncey Sparks, Alabama has such a man. By his personal interest in Auburn's plans and problems. Governor Sparks has demonstrated that he is genuinely concerned with our present and future well-being, lie has the cooperation and support of our school, ami sincerest wishes for a most successful administration arc extended to him from iis.

DR. LUTHER NOBLE DUNCAN Lutlier Noble Duncan has for the past seven years called the responsibilities and the distinctions of the college his own. During that time lie lias served as president, guiding and encouraging the unprecedented growth of the institution year by year. I lis administration has been a vigorous one—a time of change in curricula, a time of rapid development of the campus, a time of increasing acceleration and expansion to meet the calls of the nation upon the facilities of the college. An executive of ever increasing responsibilities, he has met these challenges with the energy and friendly air of calm assurance for which he is so widely known and much admired.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES • • For their wise leadership, faithful service and progressive actions which have enabled Auburn to enjoy the greatest expansion of its history, the administration, faculty, alumni, and students of the college are grateful to the Board of Trustees. Through the years Auburn has been backed in words anti deeds by the members of the Board. Representing every section of the state, as do the students themselves, the Board brings together the opinions and sound judgments of ten staunch Auburn supporters. The progress of our college can be attributed, to a great extent, to these men whose time and skill have been united in a common cause. The members of the Board have always evidenced the greatest interest in Auburn, and with their capable supervision the college will continue to advance in all fields of endeavor. Fhe Board of Trustees of the Alabama Polytechnic Institute, representing the nine districts, headed by his excellency Governor Chauncey Sparks, Hx-oflicio Chairman, is composed of the following: II. I). Merrill, Anniston, Fourth District; C. S. Culver. Gadsden. Fifth District; Paul S. Haley, Jasper. Seventh District; whose terms expire in 1945. George Blue, Montgomery, Second District; Robert K. Greene, Greensboro, Sixth District: Edward A. O'Neal. Florence. Eighth District: whose terms expire in 1947. Victor H. Hanson, Birmingham, Ninth District; Francis W. Hare. Monroeville, First District; S. I.. Toomcr, Auburn, and T. D. Samford. Opelika, Third District: whose terms expire in 1951.
