ITH TH6 GEORGE PETRIE Dear, of Graduate School MARION JACOB FUNCHESS Dean School of Agriculture The Alabama Polytechnic Institute, through its many departments, insures its students of a wide variety of courses from which to select a vocation. These departments are presided over by competent, well-trained leaders who have had many years of experience in their particular fields. The School of Agriculture has kept pace with the rapid advancement of agricultural methods within the past few years, and each year sends out many graduates to take their places in the trained field of agricultural specialists. Its many experiment stations throughout the state afford the solution to many problems of the farm. Auburn's School of Agriculture ranks second to none in the South. The Graduate School offers one the opportunity to study beyond the Bachelor of Science Degree in all courses offered at Auburn. The principal aim of the school is to develop the power of independent work and to promote the spirit of research through well organized facilities for advanced study. The Master’s and Professional Degrees are the reward for those who complete their graduate study. The Department of Public Information was combined with the office of the Registrar in 1928, thus putting these two closely related branches of the college in closer touch with school activities. In addition, this department serves as a connecting link between the college and the state. It is headed by Mr. P. O. Davis, who also devotes much of his time to the very important office of Executive Secretary. The School of Engineering was first established at Auburn in 1872.
