The members are selected by the faculty on the basis of outstanding leader- ship, scholarship, character, and service. This year Honor Society has served in the capacity of Secretary-Treasurer of the state organization. It has also performed it's regular duties of helping with Career Day and preparing the six-weeks and semes ter honor rolls. The purpose of the Future Teachers of America is to prepare and guide high school students toward their chosen career in education. Through informative programs at meetings and service opportunities rel- ated to education, the FTA member is offered a foundation for his continued study in college. Members serve as aids to teachers by grading papers, keeping classes, and working in the library and the office. FTA also sponsors Student Participation Day and the observance of American Education Week, in addition to cooperating with Auburn University in a student visitation program.
