Austin of Columbia University, New York City, was the main speaker. For the serious part of the program the 500 delegates from 130 schools over the state enjoyed discussion groups, their banquet, and a panel discussion by youth speakers. For fun and fellowship there was a barbecue, a mixer, a movie, a dance, a banquet, and the acquaintance of new friends. The students of Aubum High School helped make possible the planning and preparing for the convention, helped the delegates have a wonderful time while in Auburn and learn much which would help their school's student councils, and also helped them to be better student council members. The State Convention was the student council's main project for this year. Janice Ham was chairman of the convention. She was greatly assisted by the convention chairmen who were from within the school.
