Juniors gain experience in county gov't Learning the ways of how our county gov't works at the annual county gov't day were 30 Auburn High School Juniors, taking the place of governmental officials and experiencing their rightful positions. Students from Auburn who took part in the event were: Co. Welfare officer - Jodee Filbrandt and Tammy Filbrandt: Co. Veterans officer - Mike Myers and Jan Brueggemann: Co. Health Director - Renae Bohling and Kathy Hamann: Co. Extention Agent -Wade Reeves and Bob Williamson: Co. Associate Judge - Amy Goering and Lisa Krueger: Co. Judge - Chris Bratcher and Charlie Allen. Co. Treasurer - Shauna Johnson and Annette Bollen: Co. Surveyor - Doug Kampe and Tracy Brettmann: Co. Supt. of Schools -Steve Bath and Mike Westerfield, Co. Sheriff - Mike Patterson and Ritchie Russ: Clerk of the District Court - Mike Gerdes and Jennifer Cullen: Co. Clerk - Peggy Allgood and Rhonda Genterf: Co. Attorney - Rollie Clark and Jerry Boden, Co. Assessor - Jimmy Kleine and Becky Robling: Co. Commissioner -Robert Wintz and David Voss. CLOCKWISE FROM LEFT: 1. Vickie Colgrove. Four qualify for state speech meet Speech contestants participated in one-act play competition with the play The Acting Lesson receiving a II rating at districts. The following month students entered contests at Nebraska City and districts. Those students competing were: Steve Bath, poetry and interpretation of drama: Shauna Johnson, interpretation of drama.; Lisa Krueger, interpretafion of drama; Tom Liewer, informative public address. AH the above qualified for sfafe competition in Kearney with Steve Bath placing fifth in state. Others competing were: Mike Root, original public address; Jeff Kistner, original public address; Care Ramsay and Lisa Pratte, duet acting. CLOCKWISE FROM LEFT: 1. Juniors work to create ' 'Celebration Wheeler Inn was the site of this year's Junior-Senior banquet. After the steak dinner the junior class president Steve Bath gave his speech, followed by Greg Pippert, senior class president. Other entertainment for the evening was a quartet of junior boys playing kazoos to the tune In the Shade of the Old Apple Tree Cara Ramsey sang Out Here on my Own from the musical Fame, accompanied by Lisa Krueger. Despite the delayed arrival of Zena-B. the rock band for the dance held in the lower commons area, the evening was filled with dancing and general good times .
