Woods and weddings highlight voc arts Vocational arts students began their freshman year with drafting and wood working making cutting boards and chairs. Metals classes made benches, tables and tools. Juniors were introduced to such projects as cedar chests, grandfather docks, and waterbed frames. Seniors made scale model houses and feeder boxes for cattle in carpentry class. Home economics classes covered such objects as mock weddings and receptions and dating and marital relationships. In October, initiation was held for 22 new members, bringing the total to 31. Art professor Paul Fell was guest speaker. A Halloween Party, featuring original costumes was held in latter October. In November, Neil Munson, a woodcraft artist, presented his works at an evening meeting. February brought a day trip to Lincoln, including Sheldon Gallery. Elder Gallery, Haymarket Gallery, and Elephant Hall. May culminated the year with a trip to Kansas City to the Nelson Gallery and a hopeful trip to Pioneer Village for seniors, and viewing of the Thomas Moran exhibition at BrownviUe. Business offers variefy to students Students were given a variety of subjects to choose when selecting courses of study in business. Courses in typing, shorthand, bookkeeping, general business and office practices were offered. Eighteen students participated in the Peru State Business contest with Hayley Fulton placing third in economics and Beth Ely placing fifth in shorthand I. CLOCKWISE FROM LEFT: 1.
