Pep Club President, Beth Applegate, crowns Carole Rarick, 1970 Homecoming Queen. Age of Aquarius The traditional bonfire was held for the 1969 Homecoming on October 30. Despite the rain, an enthusiastic group turned out to hear the speech of Ken McCormick. Spirits were high for the parade on Friday afternoon where Dick Hahn and Coach Shoff gave inspiring speeches. The football game on Friday night climaxed the week’s preparation. The highlight of the evening was the half tune ceremony where Carole Rarick was named Homecoming Queen for 1969. Crowned by Beth Applegate, president of the Pep Club, she was presented a bouquet of roses by Pat Tynon, vice president of the “A” Club. Following the victory over Syracuse a dance was held at the armory. The Pep Club was busy, weeks in advance, preparing the signs of the zodiac which represented the theme Age of Aquarius”. The music was supplied by “Farmer John and the Pigs.” The excitement of the evening begins with the breaking of the arch. 29
