and Spirit AHS added two new groups of cheerleaders to its ranks of “Spirit-Promoters” this year: wrestling and freshmen Various group projects carried out were sponsoring dances, selling ribbons, and a car wash. Both varsity and Reserve squads attended a workshop at Wesleyan University in the fall WRESTLING: Head Donna Moody, Carolyn Hurt, and Ann Vaughan. Cheered on by the pep club, the football team comes onto the field. Pep Club Shows Spirit An enthusiastic cheer comes from the pep club as the team scores. The Auburn High School Pep Club showed the spirit and enthusiasm of a fine organization this year. Leading the girls in different projects and at games were President Beth Applegate, Vice President Debbie Ballue, Secretary Janet Nixon, Treasurer Barbara Brady, and Student Council Representative Debbie Gaines. Squad leaders were Janet Genoa, Ann Magor, Gloria Obermeyer, Donna Kurrelmeyer, Colleen Harris, Debbie Harris, Pat Patras, Barb Sullivan, Betty Blankenship. Ann Grafton. Rita Seid, and Bonnie Stemper. The outstanding squad named at the Honor’s Convocation this year was Bonnie Stemper’s squad from the senior class. This was a new award. High point winners from each class were Ann Magor, Freshman; Denise Gardner and Emily Higgins tied for Sophomore award; Becky Kruger, Junior; and Debbie Skeen, Senior. Sponsors for the year were Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Rarick. School buses carried pep club members to all out-of-town athletic contests. Money making projects to finance Homecoming and charms for seniors were a car wash and the Homecoming dance. 21
