Deby Skeen Elected to State Office The Future Homemakers of America began their year’s activities with a “come as you are” breakfast in September. In October the initiation ceremonies for the freshmen were held. Later in the month members traveled to Weeping Water for the District F.H.A. Convention. One of the highlights of the year was the election of Deby Skeen as a state officer. Regular meetings held throughout the year included a progressive dinner, the annual Christmas caroling party, a session on cake decorating, and help with the canvassing of the community for the Heart Fund Drive in February. Money-making projects for the year were a bake sale and a volleyball game with the faculty. F.H.A. Week was observed early in April. Highlights of the week were munch and crunch day, teacher appreciation day, dress-up day, and grub day. The annual Mother-Daughter Banquet, held in April served as the setting for installation of new officers. This year’s officers: Treas., J. Shew; Pres., N. Wagner; Sec.. M. Sierks; S.A.B., L. Art Club Has Active Year 16 The Art Club, sponsored by Mr. Fell, had many showings during the school year of the new and old techniques of art. The club also began an annual money-making project, a Christmas cookie sale, using their talents for decorating the cookies. Field trips were taken to Omaha and Lincoln, visiting museums, galleries, and personal showings. A final trip, to end the year, was to Wabonsi Park. Officers for the 1969-70 were: Pres. Carole Rarick; Vice Pres. Debbie Gaines; Sec. Kathy Edwards;Treas. Rita Seid;S.A.B. Anne Nincehelser. Nancy Clark develops her artistic ability in Art HI.
