New Athletic Field Auburn’s new high school athletic field is one of the best in this section, and in a few years should be one of the best in the state. Efforts to grow grass have besen unsuccessful so far, but with better growing seasons we should have a sod playing field soon. The quarter mile cinder track is well constructed and is a full seven lanes wide throughout its length. It provides ample room for the biggest of meets. The concrete bleachers seat almost five hundred and provide an excellent view of the field. One section of the stadium is made for the use of the band. The rest rooms are conveniently located. The shrubs used in the landscaping are growing well and when the field and banks are covered with green the entire layout will present a most pleasing appearance. The field was dedicated with appropriate ceremony on October 2, 1936 preceding the Auburn-Sabetha game. —RALPH HIGGINS. Le i
