Sergeant-at-Arms The enrollment of the Auburn Hi-Y Club was greater during 1933-34 than in any year previous to this. Regular weekly meetings were held at which various men engaged in different professions were speakers. The meetings were well attended, and the members received much benefit from them. Many of the Hi-Y members attended the Older Boys’ Conference. The organization had several parties and picnics throughout the year. The club has proved to be a source of enjoyment and inspiration to the boys, besides being of educational value. Page Twenty-one

Bye Nebraska City Humboldt . Auburn Auburn Auburn The district debate tournament was held in Auburn on March 17 with five teams participating. Auburn became district champion by defeating Humboldt in the semi-finals and Nebraska City in the finals. THE STATE DEBATE TOURNAMENT The state tournament was held at Lincoln, April 12, 13, and 14. In the first round Auburn won from Scottsbluff by a 3-1 decision. Auburn drew Trenton for the second debate and the Auburn team was defeated 2-1. Later the Trenton team went to the finals, but were defeated by Omaha Tech. In the district and state tournaments Auburn was represented by Neil Brown and Edwin Sodman. Much of the success of the team can be accredited to Mr. Nebelsick, the coach. Page Twenty-two
