T A 5 ,N 'H A 'V Sophomore Class Presldent Cecll Jordan V1cePres1dent Ellzabeth Frey Secretary Ed Cavanaugh Treasurer Myra Glllabrand A HISTORY OF THE SGPHOMORE CLASS 1927 Two years ago we entered Auburn Hlgh Qchool some from one school some from another all Frosh and as gleen as the campus In one sense we were far apart and unacquamted but 1n another sense we were mutual and that vsas 1n the fear of the faculty and upper classmen 1n reality there was nothlng to be afrald of but Frosh w1ll be Frosh Just as boys vslll be boys and at any rate cold feet and vseak knees held then' places for several days after our arrxval Remember the first class meet1ng Sure It vsas a whxz wasnt 1t At that tlme vse had some elghty members 1n the class everyone talked and Mr Whlrry were elected class advlsoxs and wlth thelr a1d we elected Donald Dobbms to the presldency along xx 1th Monte Drav vsho acted as secretary and treasurer Meetmgs vsere fevs and far betvs een ln those days but we got along somehow The treasury vsas finally able to boast of S90 00 so the Frosh declded to glve a party for the school Well vue d1d and It went over as vsell as any Frosh party ever d1d Of cour e the class members helped d1m1n1sh the supply of eats Tubb5 Luke and Sklnney Smlth were the leadlng character ln that role Busmess ran qulte smoothlv for a tlme after the partv and then the Frosh had an assembly commg up It a111wed all too soon for the pleasule lTu nh Slrl ' , ' I ' ' ' , I Z .U : , ' . .v . N v- 'lim History of the Class of 1926 UUIOTS One cloudy morning in September nineteen twenty two the brightest group of freshmen that ever trod the floors on decorated the halls of old A H S entered the front door of this bulldlng Heaits yyere filled with varied and numerous emotions and souls thrllled with lofty ambltlons Creen' Yes they yyere green as all who had preceeded them to say nothing of gieener ones who followed but oh how they could learn' In a short tlme the greeness peeled off like the skln off a ripe onion and they emerged with eyen more strength Success seemed to be their slogan and led by Hoyyard Cleary Otto Bertsch Doris Clark and Edna Krebs presldent N106 president secretary and treasurer respectively they passed through their freshman year with only slightly altered am b1t1ons The outstandlng feature of their lntroductory year was then all h1gh school partv a notable undertaking but brilliant success June nlneteen twenty three found them safely passing their laurels wlth as shoes with even greater confidence 1n the1r abillty to learn As sophomores how they shone' The upperclassmen could no longer lgnore them but were forced to admire their ability to conduct affalrs As IS customarv they gaye a party It was '1 Chrlstm ms affair and eyen the mlghtiest sen1o1 smiled approval and said he had had a good time They also put on programs before the high school which ranked among the best for cleyerness and or1g1nal1ty June 1925 with wildly beating hearts they took the seats designated for the Juniors So yy1th the blue and gold still f'ly1ng they sailed lnto the1r Junlor year Juniors' how odd it seemed Was it possible that these were the little green freshmen of two yeals before' Yes but they tried to forget lt Whether they haye succeeded or not at least they have continued to gather fresh laurels for themselves and under the able direction of Josephine Meade the1r presldent they have completed the first half o their Junlor year They have giyen a number of hot dog sales which were a success as all their undertakings are At the present time March 90 1925 they are looking forward very eagerly to their Junior Senlor informal which is the biggest affair of the year It is to be given Vlay the fifteenth Among their other undertakings is the Junior play Clarence to be giyen Vlay the 21st and 29nd which will without doubt bring them praise Although they are about to enter upon the last cvcle of their h1gh school hfe they haye still upheld the reputation made in preylous years and yy1ll continue to uphold it eyen when high school days ale but '1 memory lNoelle Dey ana IT nr I' zel 1 E R 9 ili --ll I If g l I.
