HISTORY F1 65l77ll6lll I em We dlffered from the ty ptcal freshmen We vseren t afrard of the seniors We yxeren t taken 1n by the unscrupulous students yyho tried to sell us tlckets to the eley ator We d1dn t lose our way around the corrldors or arrne rn 109 110 thinking that lf was 703 Not much When we were finally consldered capable of handling fwlth supervlslonb our ovsn af fairs vse were allovsed to elect the follovung officers presrdent Bill Boots v1ce president Vic Vaughan treasurer Eugene Bellerose and secretary Natalie Dugan Conslderlng the experlence that we dldn t have our 1n1t1al effort of the year the Harlem Holiday was stiff competition for any of the other dances Among our more talented athletes yyho made the fatal effort and vsent out for foot ball were Smiley Blackburn Daryl Hatfield and Harry Sumner Those who trlpped lightly over the basketball court were Don Lamond R1ch Hollis Daryl Hatfield Mac GIVCUS and Earl Weeman After the restrictions of grammar school we were quite surprised to find glrls yy earxng llpstlck boys wearing long pants and such de lrghtful novelties as sessions and homevsork Other things that transported our humble souls into ecstasy were dancing at recess the cafe terra and the handsome male and beautiful fe male teachers By the time we had learned to carry our books properly we found that yyc yy ere sophomores Sopbonzoa e Yem Who were the fiends that destroyed the faith ln human klndness of the freshmen on the very flrst day of school? Who retaliated for their treatment of the year just past? Who else? As a reward U7 for farthful servlces rendered we elected B111 Boots president agaln v1ce presldent Ralph Perry treasurer Thomas Ireland and secretary Earl Weeman More and more of our brave young men joined the forces of the A H S football team This yy 'ls the year of the Sophomore Cnrcus the dance the alumni still talk about Nuff sfud Although we may have walked to these dances because most of our he men were not quite old enough to have thenr licenses nor dld they haye enough money to take a taxi we felt that vse vsere finally being mltrated mto the soc1al whirl of A H S The great day had almost arrlyed when vse at last would be up perclassmen jznzzoi I em Non yye hobnob with the seniors disdain the freshmen and patronize the sophomores We can finally call Bobby s home Who does homework' Xlot we carefree creatures' We drag out our trusty Latin trots borrow some ones last years biology notebook and spend our time llstenmg to Frankie Slnatra Appllcatrons for college are forgotten ln the mad vs hurl despite the constant chrdmgs of our parents and teachers president Rrchard Smith yrce presrdent Nat Dugan secretary and Murrel Gulllette treas urer Early IH the year an ambltlous little group known as the Rlng Committee chose guess vs hat our rings which were the envy of the whole school Our football and basket ball teams consisted tnaturallyl for the most part of members of the lunlor class We went to Tech in this eventful year Our dance A Wlght IH Shanghai lned up to our usual hugh standard replenished our treasury and much 'ts me hate to use a clrche was a great success Vsfe vsere yery sorry to lose Mlss Bradley our amiable math teacher and Mrs Lyons our popular librarian but we know how it IS We were delighted to greet Mr Cassidy' In Oc tober there was a great deal of excltement rn the A H S corrldors when ten of our yunlor .,1rls yy ere 1n1t1ated mto the Trl Y The H1Y was started w1th Mr Smith as adylser VC'e all gladly left in june thrnkmg happr ly of the day rn September when vue would re turn as senrors ' f ' 1 ' .. .
