Now hear This . says CapTain LofTus, The deck hands will be responsible for giving a ChrisTmas dance for The enTerTainmenT of The crew. The name of This dance shall be 'lcicle Wonderland.' WiTh Ted Fink and his musical piraTes providing us wiTh music, The dance will be enjoyed by all . The crew goT TogeTher and decided ThaT They would like To Take a liTTle excursion off The island. Our desTinaTion was To be New York CiTy. The Trip was a huge success, and much To our surprise no one goT seasick. Time came To say Bon-voyage To The Seniors. To show how much we appreciaTed The help ThaT They had given us Through our voyage. we acknowledged Their friendship wiTh The Junior-Senior Prom. The Mardi Gras was a huge success. and wiTh ThaT we bade Them farewell. We owe This successful voyage To our piloTs, Mrs. Nicholls and Mr. Wuesfhoff. To compleTe our sTay aT The Land of The Juniors, several members of The crew repre- senfed us aT Girls' and Boys' STaTe, which was held in June. Coming To The end of our voyage we enTered Senior Harbor. CapTain Kay CarlsTrom piloTed us Through The Harbor gaTes, assisTed by FirsT MaTe Joe Czarnecki. Trailing along. would be The yoeman. PaT PleasanT, who would record all orders in The log. As we arrived in The Harbor, we noTiced a new group arriving, and iT made us Think back To The Time when we sTarTed our voyage in l952. To sTarT The members of The crew in The paTh To VicTory, we gave The Kickoff Dance, enTiTled Gridiron Preview. . The Cheerleaders: CapTain PaT PleasanT, Co- Capfain Carol Lee Weis. Kay CarlsTrom, PaT FlaTley. Carol Doucha, Lillian Vaughan, GreT- chen Van BrunT, and EdiTh Schmedes, presenTed a pep rally To build spiriT among The ship members. Since iT was our lasT sTop, some of The mem- bers of The crew Took parT in fooTball. They were: Joe Ash and Don Loffus, Co-Capfainsz Bill Leonard. John SmiTh, Charlie HarT. Ward LaThrop, and Andy Daino. From The deck To The cabin, we are now in baskefball season. The Varsify firsT six was made up of our crew members: Joe Ash, Charlie HarT, Bob Lucas. Joe Czarnecki, Howard Lesser, and Don LofTus. The CapTain calls play ball and baseball season is on iTs way. The crew expressed iTs abiliTy in This field. and will be remembered for Their fine sporTsmanshi . The members of The slip ATlanTic High- lands had To face a big projecf, which was The prinfing of The Yearbook. The enTire crew was on The sfaff and did a fine job. Many ship hands joined in The differenf club organi- zafionsg some of which were: Press Club. Science Club, STudenT Council, Glee Club and Commercial Club. Then came Halloween, and all The maTes presenTed The WiTches Wake. EnTerTain- menT and refreshmenfs were enjoyed by a large crowd. The Senior crew presenTed The annual Senior play, which proved To be a profiTable and suc- cessful evenT. IT was enjoyed by visiTing pas- sengers from oTher oufside ships. which we were soon To face. The Senior passengers were all called To- geTherg They were Told by CapTain CarlsTrom ThaT we were To give our lasT social acTiviTy. The LasT Chance Dance. The crew Thoughf, worked, and presenTed a successful and enTer- Taining dance. For The lasT Time in really being Togefher, all The deck hands rambled TogeThed and sailed for Washingfon, D. C. Here we spenT Three wonderful days. We Toured many hisTorical places, had parTies, and received more know- ledge abouT WashingTon. Before we knew iT, exams were over and we were preparing for Class nighT. Every crew member parTicipaTed in This acTiviTy, and wiTh The help of our piloTs, Mrs. Nicholls and Mr. Di Fazio. iT was a Tremendous success. We had only Three days lefT of our voyage, and Then we would all venTure ouT info a new journey, where some of us would plan furfher for our educaTion. CLASS HISTCDRY s Summer'Time, a Time of pleasure, where all enio The relaxaTion and radianT sunshine of The beaches, is now coming To a close. On This sevenTh day of SepTember, we board a ship To go on a new voyage and experience. This is The good ship ATlanTic High ands. All of The fifTy-five passengers are abouT To sTep fooT on This large ship, buT before doing so. everyone wondered abouT his fuTure desTina- Tion. As we sTarTed on our voyage, we were guided by our able Capfain, William Heard and his firsT maTe, Thomas McCabe, who was also assisfed by CharloTTe Mangold, We own many Thanks To our piloTs, Mrs. Olinger and Mr. Lally, as we enTered This new and unex- perienced voyage. Our firsT sTop was Freshman Island. Here was our firsT year where we meT many new and friendly people. AT firsT, we were a liTTle frighTened of The upper classmen and Teachers, buT in a shorT while we learned ThaT They were our friends and wanTed To help us in every way ThaT They could. As we sTarTed The year, we had a Freshman GeT TogeTher where we became acquainfed wiTh all of The passengers who were Taking This long and evenTful voyage. A loT of The boys parficipafed in fooTball, baskeTball and baseball, and for Their reward received Freshman leTTers. Along wiTh Them, The girls wenT ouT for cheerleading. Besides This, They all parTicipaTed in acTiviTies offered To Freshmen. Our Time aT Freshmen Island now coming To a close, we were more accusTomed To This new iourney, and looked forward To our nexT sTop. PorT Sophomore. As we approached The wharf and dropped anchor aT PorT Sophomore, we came wiTh a renewed inTeresT and confidence, for now we knew we were a real parf of This voyage and noT mere swabbies. IT was, however, a Truly new and differenT sTop. for here our privileges, acTiviTies and responsibilifies were increased. This year, we were To find, would be an ex- Tremely enjoyable one. We were once again guided by our capable Capfain, William Heard, and The firsT maTe, CharloTTe Mangold. They were assisfed by Charles HarT, To whom we enTrusTed The financial and recording dufies of This parT of The voyage. We were given im- measurable help from our piloTs, Mrs. De- WinTer and Mr. Vifiello. Once again, The boys wenT ouT for sporfs. RepresenTing our class, Joe Ash and Bill Heard -'--.c.... -...-:Q-, played VarsiTy FooTball. When BaskeTball season rolled around, we again saw Joe Ash, Bill Heard, and Charlie HarT playing VarsiTy BaskeTball. Beside These, ofher So homore boys played J.V. ball. ln The spring, They conTinued and showed Their abiliTy in Baseball. As always, There were The girls who had To show Their abiliTy in The sporT's field. The mem- bers of The cheerleading squad were: Carol Lee Weis on VarsiTy, while PaT FlaTley, Kay Carlsfrom, GreTchen Van BrunT, Carol Doucha, and PaT PleasanT cheered for The J.V. When March came along, we were all plan- ning for our firsT acTiviTy which was The Sopho- more Dance. We named The dance Carousel. Everyone was Taking parT in iT, for iT was our firsT chance To prove To The upperclassmen ThaT we could work as well as They, and even beTTer. The dance was a success and we all felT good when we heard of our earnings. Once again, we were off To our nexT sfop which was The Land of The Juniors. BuT be- fore leaving, everyone was sad To see The Seniors leave, for some of us would probably never see Them again. The Time spenT aT PorT Sophomore broughT more enThusiasm To every passenger, and he was looking forward To his nexT sTop. Approaching The shore, our anchor was drop- ped near The Land of The Juniors. Everyone was gafhering around Talking wiTh Their old friends and Teachers. Leaving our capTain off aT PorT Sophomore, we were now guided by Donald Loffus, his FirsT MaTe, Bob Lucas, and Kay CarlsTrom Taking down all of The commands. STarTing The voyage wiTh a bang, our crew won Top honors in The annual magazine cam- paign, wiTh an ice cream parfy as Their reward. Our able-bodied deck hands once again Took Their place in sporfs. Acfive on The Var- siTy Foofball Team were: Joe Ash, Don LofTus, and Charlie HarT. BaskeTball season came firsT. and we saw as our represenTaTives: Charlie Harf, Joe Czar- necki, Howard Lesser. and Ken Esposifo. Ofher crew members were acTive on J. V Baseball was soon here before anyone real- ized ThaT iT was spring. As on previous voyages, our loyal maTes showed Their spiriT by parTici- paTing on The Team. Cheering our maTes on To Vicfory were: Kay Carlsfrom, PaT PleasanT, PaT FlaTley Carol L Weis, and Carol Doucha. CLASS PRCDPHECY Q x - x .N X 5 if One day, many years atter we had graduated trom School, we were walking along a beach in our old home town. We came across an old man. Atter seeing this man, we thought we recognized him as an old acquaintance. When we discovered this, we were very excited and started asking him questions. We 'Found out that he was onelot our advisors in A.H.H.S., Mr. DiFazio. We then started reminiscing through our old memories at A.H.H.S. He told us that he had met our other advisor, Mrs. Nicholls, who was now retired trom teaching. She and her husband and were running a hot dog stand at one ot the local bathing beaches. When we had tinished our conversation, we continued our walk along the beach. We had not gone but a little way, when we saw a bottle which had dritted up on the shore. Atter seeing the date I956 on it, we decided to explore its contents. Contained in this bottle was a document which stated: Joe Ash is once more back at A.H.H.S. as a Gym teacher, along with his assistant, Carol Lee Weis. Marilyn Boyce has continued on a voyage: she is now Commander in the Waves, and has her own private secretary, Diann Haller. Andy Daino has made his tirst arrest in the State Troopers. He has arrested Jack McConnell, the boy who was undecided about his tuture. Helen West is designing tor Beauty Rest Mattress Company. Her model is Pat Reilly, The Sleeping Beauty. Ed Palme now owns his own butcher shop, Palme's Market, while his wite, Eileen, waits home tor the bacon. Mike Heinline is President ot the United States, with Don Loftus as Secretary ot the Navy. Joyce Joslin's and Margie Lyon's children are all in school under the able direction ot Gretchen Van Brunt. Carol Doucha. Marylou Moller, Marie Senz, Kay Carlstrom, and Pat Johnson, are all head secretaries at Harry McKinney's Pharma- ceutical Plant. Bill Leonard is now scrubbing pans in the back ot David Yale's Minute a Meal Shop. Pat Flatley, Edith Schmedes, Pat Pleasant. Barbara Damon, and Chris Framnes were the nurses in charge ot Howard Leeser who tell ott me lproot ot John Beatty's new factory, which was designed by Dot ac ette. Charlie Hart can be seen any weekend during basketball season at Madison Square Garden with his manager Fred Menkens. They have hired a new chemist, Ward Lathrop, at John Smith's College tor women. Mike Linane, Prosecuting Attorney tor Bob Lucas, has just com- pleted a case against Antoinette Guzzi, dental assistant. Lillian Vaughan has just received a patent tor a new type ot soda she has invented. Ann Nichols, supervisor ot the telephone company. has lust com- pleted training her new operators Bette Jane Geraghty, Rose McGinley, and Veronica Rieth. We have just received word that Joe Czarnecki was rushed to the hospital due to an experiment he tried with 2000 volts. l think the ex- periment tailed.
