There is no exception to this saying at Atkins, for when Coach Hollingsworth made his first call early in March, approximately fifty husky boys came out for America's best- loved gamed. From this number eighteen boys were chosen on the basis of their ability to represent Atkins on the diamond. The tive pitchers named for the T957 season were: Frederick Marshall, Harold Marcus, Nathan Cook, Bobby Davis and Eddie Charles. The three catchers chosen were: Hubbard Alexander, Jackson Simon, and Johnny Glenn. The outfielders were: Linnie Jackson, Hessie Smith, Solomon Green, and Franklin Tillman. The infielders were: J. B. Sharpe, Thurmond Evans, Eugene Werts, Allen Linsey, Gene Williams, Ernest Johnson and Robert Mackins. While the schedule tor the T957 season was not available at press time, the coach believesthat at least ten opposing teams would offer competition. Assisting Coach Hollingsworth with the baseball team are Coaches Warren, Oldham and Green.
