I It was with mixed feelings that ATKA left Melbourne. Everyone wanted to go home but the trip was so long. The days passed surprisingly quickly, however. A swim call at Pitcairn Island, home of the Bounty mutineers many years ago, provided a much needed break in the mon- otony., The ship again passed through the Panama Canal at night and the days grew very long.
