'Day after day the students watched with eager eyes as the new building towered to completion. Although the sorrow of having to leave the old Athens High School was very great, Qand who would not regret leaving a building that had so long witnessed glorious victories and bitter defeats,j yet the advantages of our new home so far out weigh those of the old that the joy is greater than the sorrow. Yes, the material advantages we see all about us are greater, but may we not look further and see the other advantages that will mean far more to us in the future? In this new home we have more room and are able to expand along lines other than educational. One of these is social. We experience a closer feeling of comradeship as we are thrown together like one big family. This increases cooperation among the students and places a certain responsibility upon each student which makes him desirous of doing well his particular task, whatever it may be. Also we are able to present more and better entertainments, for now we have a fully equipped stage and auditorium of our own in which to stage productions. Students-we have indeed been given a great opportunity for advancement. Should we not show our appreciation by our willingness to keep it as it was given to us? A young child, when starting out on life's journey, has a clear slate with which to start. As he journeys he forms habits that will stay with him the remainderof his life. Thus it is with our new building. As it starts out on its journey it is clean-un' blemished and unmarred. We are the habits of this building, so does not a great deal of responsibility rest upon us? Not only must we preserve the material appear- ance of the building, but we should strive to maintain the same good reputation that the students before us have worked so hard to obtain. This must be shown in our daily attitude not only toward our school in general, our faculty and our fellow students, and not only when we are in school, but when we are outside as well. . In' deed the responsibility is very great, but are not we, the students, able to undertake this task and really do all within our power to add to the material and spiritual beauties of Our New Home?
