The senior class officers did not have one specific advisor, but they have carried on their duties with the aid of Mr. Pruyne or Mr. Finley. Several times the officers conducted class meetings in the auditorium in order that they might discover what the majority wanted. The prime duty of the officers was suggesting means of increasing the class treasury. This year they offered not only bake sales, dances, and car washes, but also the unique idea of a Senior Christmas Hop. With the approval of the entire class, the dance was held successfully on December 18. All activities were hindered somewhat, however, by the absence of a very important person in the seniors’ lives—their class president. Denny Leavenworth, who was elected last spring, was absent the whole year due to serious illness. One last element of concern in the class of 1965 was the departure of Mary Potter, its exchange student from Australia. Mary left in January after a happy year at Athens High and an altogether successful stay in the United States. With her went the class's wishes for many wonderful years in her future.
